He may beat Merckx record but that would be like Katy Perry having more number #1 singles than Bruce Springsteen. The number might be higher but the quality is nowhere near.

I do not agree. Different days, you can’t compare the two.
No one would ever say that Cav is a better rider than Merckx, that is not the point. Cav would beat him hands down in a sprint but then again Merckx would be leading a breakaway!
