A good friend of mine, Frank To, has recently completed a series of Art Collision of Eras that has a particular focus on track racing. He explains what inspired him.
I read an article on Greame Obree of how he broke the World One Hour Record in 1993 on his home made bike Old Faithful. I was quite inspired how he did it second time round less than 24 hours after failing to do so in his first attempt. During the making of the Plague Doctor series, I was doing on and off research on Scotland’s growing reputation of the area of cycling such Greame Obree, Chris Hoy, Danny MacAskill etc.
These works will be shown at the Aberdeen Art Fair in August and are currently held by Leith Art Gallery. Frank has a really interesting method of working and was kind enough to give me a preparation shot. Check out all of Franks work here.
