Last Saturday we participated in the Parkour Ride event. This is a new bike racing concept where multi-discipline riders race up and down a multi-storey car park whilst manoeuvring obstacles.

There were a big mix of riders who raced on the day including pros from David Millar – Road,
Liam Phillips – BMX,
Manon Carpente – Downhill World Champion to an Ambulance Paramedic. Then there were the 5th,
with George Garnier in the pro Fixed Gear category after his spectacular RHC performance. Joining him were Rudy Melo, Leo Tong and Alex Blomeley.

Watching Liam Phillips at the start line was incredible, he shot out from the gate at such a speed that he could over take anyone from the opening gun shot. The course was very narrow so if you had a good start or the inside line you would have had a good advantage. This was exactly how George felt after his head-to-head race, mentioning he could have gone faster but had no room to push through safely.

The event/course was more focused for BMXers resulting in the Top 3 being BMX riders followed by Mountain Bikers, but it was a very interesting and fun event to be involved in.
